Learning outcomes

After having completed the course the student will be introduced to development and present state of the Finnish society from various perspectives. S/he will be familiar with the principles and premises of the Finnish welfare state, culture, work life etc.


The literature will familiarize the student with aspects of the Finnish society and culture. The student will be introduced to recent Finnish social scientific research done on various aspects of Finnish society and culture, also from comparative perspectives.
