Learning outcomes

The students will specialise in and deepen their knowledge of particular research methods in International Relations. Having completed the course unit, the students will be able to analyse and evaluate research methods by using criteria familiar from philosophy of science and their applicability to the study of IR.

Contents

Research methods, research process, research planning and execution, research ethics.

Independent study and a written research paper or compensating courses. Research paper details to be agreed on with the teacher in charge.

Examples of compensating courses include other Master's level research methods courses such as POLVOS30.

This course can be taken as 10 ECTS, in which case it compensates for the POLKVS21 course unit.
