Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the doctoral students know how to
1. begin, continue, digress, summarise and end presentations and how to effectively respond to questions; 2. convert a written text into spoken language and to identify stylistic differences; 3. give a presentation in a relaxed manner and to use visual elements and 4. analyse one’s own and other people’s presentations.

The courses under this heading offer instruction on delivering presentations, especially conference papers or posters, in academic and scientific events. The doctoral students learn to give talks in different forums and to analyse and give feedback on other people’s presentations and learn from the feedback they receive. Group working and negotiating skills as well as meeting techniques may also be practiced in the courses.
